End-to-end encryption
WhatsApp provides you end-to-end encryption for privacy. End-to-end encryption strictly ensures your privacy. Only you and the person you are communicating can see the messaging content. Nobody in between can access the content, not even WhatsApp. You can also use the same encryption to your phone’s WhatsApp database, iCloud or Google Drive backup.
Turn on end-to-end encryption backup
Step 1. Open WhatsApp and tap on (⁝) 3 dot.
Step 2. Open Setting.
Step 3. Tap on Chats.
Step 4. Scroll down & Tap on Chat backup.
Step 5. Here you can see End-to-end encrypted backup Off. If you want to turn on End-to-end encrypted backup tap on it.
Step 6. Tap on Turn on.
Step 7. Here you can see two option Create password and Use 64-digit encryption key instead. You can choose any one of these. First we’ll go with Create password.
Create password. Tap on Create password.
Create password. Type your password. Your password must contain at least 6 characters and 1 letter. Then tap next.
NB. Remember and save your password. You will need it to restore your backup.
Create password. Retype your password and tap Next.
Create password. Tap on Create.
Now you successfully turn on end-to-end encrypted backup using password.🎉🎉🎉
Step 7.
Use 64-digit encryption key. Tap on Use 64-digit encryption key instead.
Use 64-digit encryption key. Tap on Generate your 64-digit key.
Use 64-digit encryption key. Note this encryption key or copy and save anywhere else. Then tap Continue.
NB. If you forget your encryption key and lost your phone, You will never recover your backup.
Use 64-digit encryption key. Tap on I Saved My 64-digit Key.
Now you successfully turn on end-to-end encrypted backup using password.🎉🎉🎉
Turn off end-to-end encryption backup
Step 1. Go through Step 1. to Step 6. Here you can see End-to-end encrypted backup On. If you want to turn off End-to-end encrypted backup tap on it.
Step 2. After tapping on end-to-end encryption you will see Enter current password or Enter your encryption key.
Password Encrypted. If you use a password for encryption, type your password. Then tap on Next.
Password Encrypted. Tap on Turn Off.
Password Encrypted. Tap on Turn Off.
Password Encrypted. Tap on Done. Now you successfully turn off end-to-end encrypted backup using password.🎉🎉🎉
Encryption key Protected. If you use Encryption key for encryption, type your Encryption key or paste here. Then tap on Next.
Encryption key Protected. Go through Step 2. Now you successfully turn off end-to-end encrypted backup using password.🎉🎉🎉
NB. Password protected End-to-end Encryption recommended.
